Indoor Training Sessions with Bath Roller Derby Girls!

Up until now, we've been training Spartan-style in the open air at Green Park Station - but the near Arctic conditions we've had in recent weeks have have forced even our most stoic roller derby warriors to admit it's time to seek out some shelter until Spring!

We're very pleased to announce that we'll now be running indoor training sessions at The Cheese & Grain, in Frome. Four walls! A roof! A decent floor! No pervy skateboarders staring at our bums while we stretch out! It's like we've wandered into a dream...

The next sessions (all 7.30 - 9.30pm) are scheduled for Wednesday 5th December and Tuesday 18th December - then we'll take a break until January 5th. It's just £5 for two hours of skate-based fun. As ever, everyone is very welcome. We can probably help with lifts from Bath if you have no transport and we might even have a bit of spare kit if you don't have your own yet :)

JOIN OUR FIRST TRAINING SESSION

Woohoo! Bath Roller Derby Girls is up and running!
Now is the time to get involved with our brand new league :)

BRDG 1st Ever Training Session - September 13th 2012 - 19:30 - 21:00 Green Park Station, Bath.
ALL WELCOME!

We know that at this stage a lot of you probably just want to know a bit more about Roller Derby, so we'll kick the session off with a half hour Roller Derby demonstration by our friends over at Bristol ADHD Roller Derby! Whether you're a seasoned pro, or have never skated before, everybody is welcome - it doesn't matter what your ability level is!

After the demos, we'll start to learn some of the roller derby basics, with coaching by ADHD's very own Jet Reckless! In order to take part in the whole session you must bring*:

  • Photo ID (over 18s only!)
  • Quad roller skates
  • Knee pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Wrist guards
  • Helmet
  • Optional at this stage: mouth guard, padded shorts, shin guards.
We're more than happy to help with kit recommendations - just head to our Facebook page to ask any questions or join our forum!

The session will cost £3 (or just a small donation to the hire of the space if you're not skating!) Anybody who doesn't have their kit yet / who just wants to come and find out about Roller Derby is more than welcome to come along and watch and talk to others! So we can keep an eye on numbers - please make sure you let us know you're attending via our the Facebook Event page. Hope to see you there :)

If you have any more questions, send us an email at bathrollerderbygirls@gmail.com - we're happy to help!

*All skating participants will be required to sign a health and safety waiver before taking part. Anybody wishing to participate without the mandatory safety gear will not be permitted to take part in any practical drills but are invited to watch the session and join in sessions when they are wearing all of the required safety gear.
